Student wellbeing programs

Moorooka State School provides a wide range of services to its students. These range from classroom support or extension, through to a part time Chaplain, as well as wonderful resources situated in our Resource Centre.​​​

  • Breakfast club

    Breakfast club

    The breakfast club is a service provided through the support of our Chaplain and the YMCA. Children can come to school any morning of the week and know that breakfast is available.

    Chappy Ange

    As a non-teaching staff member, the chaplain operates as a support person for the children to connect with in the school environment.

  • Early literacy program

    Early literacy program

    Our Early Literacy Foundation (ELF) Program offers additional to support to students who may demonstrate difficulty with literacy skills in the early years of schooling, in particular, Prep and Year 1.

  • English as Second Language

    English as Second Language

    ESL programs within Education Queensland schools focus on the English language, literacy and cultural demands of the curriculum and the student's current capacity to meet those demands.

  • Extension program

    Extension program

    Our gifted and talented program is based on Education Queensland's Gifted and Talented Framework, with Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) modeled in all Library specialist lessons and by the classroom teacher.

    Our STLaN teacher provides learning support for children identified with specific academic needs across literacy and numeracy areas.

    Levelled Literacy Intervention is a powerful reading intervention program for students from Prep to Yr 6.

    Spark is a reading program where corporate volunteers partner with our year 3 students each week for one term to offer one-on-one reading and support.
