“At the moment that we persuade a child, any child, to
cross that threshold, that magic threshold into a library, we change their
lives forever, for the better” – Barack Obama
At lunchtime, Moorooka students can be found in the
school library, which buzzes with excitement, fun and learning. Our library is
a popular and heavily frequented part of our school.
We pride ourselves on our library being a hub of
learning, which simultaneously supports teachers to deliver the curriculum in
innovative and engaging ways, and encourages students to engage in reading and
learning for their own pleasure and interest.
The Moorooka State School library will always be a
place which provides quality literature and books for students’ reading and
learning pleasure. However, as a 21st century library, our program
explores online information environments, teaching students to use contemporary
information sources productively and safely. Within the library program,
students are increasingly being encouraged to use digital learning tools in
creative, exciting and innovative ways.
Our library is striving to nurture students who
will pursue life-long learning enthusiastically and competently. We’re
convinced we’re doing a great job. Drop in sometime and see for yourself – you
can see the delight on our students’ faces!
