Moorooka State School strings program provides students with the opportunity to learn violin, viola, cello or double bass. The strings program has been running successfully for many years at Moorooka State School and is offered to students in Year 3–6.
Students in Year 3 are given the opportunity to participate in the “Have-a-Go” strings program, which allows all students in grade 3 to trial playing a string instrument for the first term.
Following the “Have-a-Go” program students are encouraged to continue on with the Strings Orchestra program for a small yearly cost. Students are also able to loan instruments from the school upon paying the instrumental maintenance fee.
Strings lessons and rehearsals are conducted on Friday. All students in the program participate in a small group lesson for 30 minutes each week. Once students have reached the appropriate level of playing, they participate in the string orchestra. The orchestra rehearses every week before school and provides students with the opportunity to extend themselves through ensemble playing. The string orchestra also performs at various events and competitions, which in the past have included Fanfare, the Ekka and Musicfest. Students are also given opportunities to participate in other music workshops and camps.
The instrumental strings program is a wonderful opportunity for students to extend themselves and develop creativity, discipline and musical skills. If you have any further questions please send an email to email@example.com.
