At Moorooka State School, we believe that optimising every student’s opportunity to achieve their potential lies at the heart of Education Queensland’s commitment to all students.
In line with Education Queensland policy, our vision for students who are gifted is that they feel valued in a learning environment which both challenges and supports them to pursue excellence and develop a passion for lifelong learning.
While our gifted and talented program is based on Education Queensland's Gifted and Talented Framework, Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) are modelled in all Library specialist lessons. Classroom Teachers regularly use HOTS questioning and tools or graphic organisers across all KLAs. Some examples of these are:

When opportunities arise for extension programs outside the school, as places are often limited, teachers are required to nominate students who are most suitable.
Examples of programs include Unify, Young Scholars Program, BRAINways and GATEways. Information is distributed to the families of nominated students as appropriate.
