June P and C Meeting

The focus of the next meeting on Tuesday June 16th @ 6:30pm will be to look at our two (2) key businesses MAC and Marlins.

1. MAC - P&C QLD and DETE are putting pressure on P&C's to outsource their OHSC functions. We would not be diligent in our role to ignore P&C QLD recommendation and look at what it means to outsource and make a decision to review the market suppliers OR keep in-house.

Refer to this presentation on the Outsource Process

If the decision is made to keep in-house, we will need a lot more volunteer labour from the P&C to not only get the MAC business compliant but to retain complaincy. Child Care legislation is complex and is continually changing.

Note: it is not the intention of the P&C or the school to close MAC or stop before/after school care, rather the intention is to ensure the operation of this business meets the complex Federal Government requirements to operate an OHSC, and that parents of Moorooka State School are afforded a quality care program for their children.

2. Marlins - The business has been re-built over the last 3 years. Key individuals have been Chris Spencer the Coach and Helen Mansfield spending 20 hours a week as a volunteer.

We are at the cross-roads for Marlins Lesson business. Go back to market for a coach and maintain the lessons business in-house OR outsource the lessons business.

Once again if the decision is to keep in-house we will need a lot more volunteer labour from the P&C to replace the 20 hours Helen has been investing.
