Moorooka kids love using technology so it's little wonder that when the Year 6s and 7s were given the opportunity to use iPods in their music lessons that this generated a huge amount of interest.

Our Principal, Mr Kerwin, started the term teaching the kids about music from the 80s, introducing them to Giorgio Moroder, who is consider by many as the "father of digital music".

The modern day group, Daft Punk, has written the digitised track "Giorgio by Moroder" as a tribute the him. It was the basis of this style of music that the Year 6 and 7 students were then set the challenge to write their own digital music using the GarageBand app on the school's class set of Apple iPods.

"The students have had a fabulous time creating their musical masterpieces," said Melody Fawssett, classroom music teacher. "And their final compositions are just outstanding."

The student compositions have been burnt to CD and will be available for parents to purchase through a gold coin donation at the school's Creative and Performing Arts evening next week.
