Saturday April 25 2015 marks the hundredth anniversary of Australian and New Zealand soldiers fighting at Gallipoli. Like in many places around the world, this historic event will be recognised by staff and students at Moorooka State School in a special ceremony on Friday afternoon.

“Remembering the contributions of these men and women, and members of our armed forces since then, is an important part of teaching children about values,” Miss Best, Deputy Principal, stated.

“It is an important opportunity for members of our community to honour the fallen and to respect the freedom that has been afforded to this great country of ours.”

While the flags of many countries from around the world are flown at Moorooka State School, on Friday four flags play a significant role. These are the Australian, New Zealand, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island flags.

“We honour the contributions that people from these four nations have made as part of this hundred year celebration."
